So, here we are... over two and a half days into Live Below The Line. There's been some frayed nerves around the office as people come down off their caffeine addictions; headaches & grouchiness so far attributed to that. There's been some awesome creativity and sharing of recipes on the Live Below The Line page, including top tips for scavenging every bit of taste & value from things we normally throw away - roasted pumpkin seeds and sliced broccoli stems being some of my faves!
Today's rice meals have been fried leftovers with a sprinkling of veges, and for lunch an extravagant $0.99 rice & lentil soup with a few greens and a whole mushroom. EXTRAVAGANT!

El's joined me on the Live Below mission, and has been faring a lot better since she got some miso - we get regular updates of the wonderful things she's been cooking at work - whilst people look over her shoulder and wonder why she's using 1/8 onion, 1/2 stem broccoli, 1/2 stem of silverbeet and 1/8 of a mushroom. you can support her here though if you so fancy!
I also have to share a couple of El's fine haiku's, poems & other writings which have scored her some fundraising dollars thus far:
"A warning about Chickpeas in haiku.."
Chickpeas - can't trust 'em
Don't shove them up your nostrils,
To prepare for farts.
And "a lentilly limerick"
I chuckle when El whips out her acrostic poems, limericks and 'knock knock' jokes, let alone her suggestions of hiding burgers amongst her rice dishes. I think the lack of choice is sending her a little stir crazy, but come Saturday morning I am sure she will get her revenge at Brunch.
There once was a man who liked lentils,
He ate them with pasta & pencils.
But if you asked him about,
Making sauerkraut.
He'd say "Gads! I don't have the utensils!"

So we're ticking along nicely now - almost a full 3 days down, and only 2 still to go. Our stocks are dwindling too much, but I know a few others who are - perhaps we'll be able to share with them to ensure they don't finish up Friday with hunger cramps.
Finally, I wanted to say that I am $5.25 short of raising $1000 for Global Poverty Project - so PLEASE get involved with our fundraising page today, and push me over into 4 figures!
